Teeny Tiny Shoes

These shoes are small. Newborn size to be exact. It has been awhile since I have seen newborn feet close up and hope they are even this small. If they're not, that would be sad, as these teeny shoes have eaten up my last two evenings.

My sister is going to have a baby. She is the first of my four sisters to have children and I can't wait to sniff her baby's head! I don't think there is a better smell in all the world than newborn heads, except for newborn breath. Love it!!

I've always wanted to really learn the art of needlecraft. I'm a sucker for anything knit and if I see a cute cableknit sweater or knit dress I buy it in a second. It's one of my weaknesses.

I tried to teach myself to knit once and it didn't work out so well, but I seem to be getting the hang of crochet. I love the look of knitting though, so if any of you have successfully taught yourself with a book or something of that nature, point the way for me!

I hope she likes them!

  5. Your shoes are adorable! Maybe you should try watching a YouTube video on learning to knit. I don't have any basic knitting ones to recommend, but this is my favorite one on knitting continental, which, if you don't know how already is definitely the way to go - it is really hard to switch after you have been knitting for years. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuRLFl36tDY

I actually learned most of what I know from a book and lots of patient practice. I remember a whole day spent trying to learn an eyelet from a book, and it is so simple. Much easier to watch someone do it.

Good luck in your yarn pursuits, and congratulations to your sister. Wish i had a little niece or nephew on the way.

  6. I am sure she will absolutely love these little shoes. And even if they wouldn't fit, they would be perfect for only decorative use :-)

I can't really knit by the way. And can't crochet either. I wish I could, but I am missing the time and patience right now to teach myself. Maybe some day.

  10. You must check out this site!!

It is the best thing ever! I tried to learn from a book, but I really needed to see it happen right before my eyes to figure everything out. There are videos for basic info and more advanced skills - I think I've watched almost all of them! They even have a separate videos for each skill depending on what style of knitting you use (Continental vs. English)!

Your shoes are adorable! Now if I could only figure out how to crochet...haha.

  13. I crochet as well, and I also long for the look and stretchiness of knitting. Sigh! It's tough, but it's a totally different entity from crochet. I guess you're supposed to hold everything a lot looser. It's way too complicated to be enjoyable. LOL
