Have I got your attention?
So what do you think of when you think of Brother? I'll admit, several years ago before I started sewing, the first thing that came to mind were printers and office equipment. You see I used to work in an office, and I spent a lot of time with the Brother printer!
Then, about 7 years ago, I decided that I wanted to sew. At the time I had a 25yr old sewing machine that had been given to me. How I struggled with that machine! It needed more care than I could give it at the time, and I decided I would buy my first sewing machine.
Like any good consumer I researched what I should buy. I read reviews and looked up every brand I could think of. In the end what I learned was that there were some great machines out there, but they weren't in my budget. It didn't occur to me at the time to even research Brother.
So, when I went shopping I really went in blind. This is what I discovered.
Brother had sewing machines! Sewing machines even in my price range, which at the time was not very much. That day I purchased my first machine, and it was a Brother.
This is why:
- It came with a lot of accessories
- Lots of built in stitches
- It was in my budget
7 Years later, this is my Brother machine...
I'm showing you my machine, 7 years later, to show you it is still going strong! It's true, a few years later when I realized sewing was more than a passing hobby but was something I really loved, I upgraded to a more expensive machine. I didn't get rid of my Brother though, and still use it quite often. The machine I upgraded to is a sewing/embroidery combo machine and often times I don't like switching the embroidery out, so I will use my Brother. I do all of my twin needle sewing on my Brother and it also winds all of my bobbins. The bobbin winder function on my more expensive machine has never worked right (whats up with that?). I also use all of my Brother feet with my other machine.
My Brother has also been the machine my girls are learning to sew on. A step stool for the pedal and a little guidance from mom, and they have already created many things they use for themselves and their toys.
I shared with you the reasons I originally purchased my first machine, but here are the reasons I would purchase a Brother again today:
- Many accessories with most models. See descriptions of individual models to learn more.
- Lots of built in stitches
- Machines in every price range
- Proven to last
Now, the reason I'm sharing this with all of you is because I'm so excited about this giveaway and the chance to give a similar experience to one of my wonderful readers!! :)
For the giveaway....
Brother Canada is going to give one lucky reader this....

i don't live in canada, but thought maybe i could enter for my mom who lives in ontario? my mom hand sews, i would love to make a quilt with her. to be honest i'm not sure what her first project would be >.< i'm thinking napkins, coasters, or potholders since she loves kitchen stuff.
ReplyDeletethe machine looks awesome, thanks for hosting the giveaway.
Oh please pick me! I am a Canadian sewing blogger who follows your site. I have been using the Kenmore my dad bought for me when I was 13 or so (it is about 25 years old!)and ready for an upgrade. If I were to win this giveaway, I am really into Amy Butler patterns right now and would like to make the barcelona skirt with the new machine.
ReplyDeleteletsgoflyakite2010@gmail.com
Canadian here and I would love to enter! I don't have a machine but am itching to learn...so what I would do first is an easy beginner project, which I am betting you would have some suggestions about ;) I live in Nova Scotia. LLLCShauna@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteOh, I love a Canadian contest! I'd love to either add this to my sewing room or gift it to a friend who is just beginning to sew. The first thing I'd likely sew on it either way, would be to show my friend how to make a yoga waist skirt for herself.
ReplyDeleteoh please let it be me???
ReplyDeleteWe just (!) received the best announcement of our lives, we are going to move to Canada in the next 6 months!!! We got our PR status and we're already counting the days...
What would make our dream even more fantastic is a brother sewing machine! I will have to let go of my old machine because the electricity is different, so how sweet will it be if I won a new one?
What I'd sew? LOL, I don't really know, but I'll bet it'll have both "BROTHER" and "Christine" embroidered on it LOL
We are moving to BC, btw.
I would love to win this sewing machine as a "little brother" to my bigger and older regular machine. It would be great to take to classes and/or travelling. The first thing I would make is an outfit for my 2 year old granddaughter--she loves pretty things already!
ReplyDeleteI live in Ontario and my email address is lynnpoulin@gmail.com Thanks--hope I win!!!
I would love this machine! My current one is 50 years old and jams all the time. I would make a dress for my daughter.
ReplyDeleteA Canadian contest? oh thank you so much! am so tired of hearing open to US residents only...
ReplyDeleteI love my brother machine, sooo much, but it is a simple machine and not really built for the work i put it through. I have been thinking of upgrading to a new brother machine for a while - something like this prize. so please count me in!
First think i would make is a dress for me, or maybe my daughter.
WOWZA!!! I would LOVE to win this!! I would make good on my promise to try the one hour sun dress, then after hours of frustration I'd send it to you...the sewing machine and the dress :) hahahahaha
ReplyDeletemealplanningmama@gmail.com
Oh and I love in BC!!! ****NOT a second entry i just forgot to say where I lived!****

ReplyDeleteI love my current Brother sewing machine, but I would love to have one my 3 daughters could use without mortal fear of breaking mommy's beloved. I'm pretty sure the first thing my 10yr old would make is a pillow out of a horse print pillow panel she bought a few summers ago. =) We're in Ontario.
ReplyDeletezaidi_rebecca@hotmail.com
My friend KJ just told me about this giveaway - I also can't believe this is Canadian (am in Toronto) - thank you! I've been doing some handsewing and a machine would open the gates to other words - thanks again for such a generous giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI had my first sewing machine before I leave home for good. It was my aunt's and the front had melted a bite because it was near the source of fire in her house, but it was still working... Until I needed more! So I bought a new basic one that I have now for almost 20 years. And now, that my sewing skills are improving, I need more, again...
ReplyDeleteWhat I will see first? Cannot tell, I have too many ideas for my own goods, it may be another scrappy clutch, that everyone loves in my family (I even do not have the time to sew one for me!), or a dress that I have in mind!
Sure hope to win!

Yay for a Canadian giveaway! I'm an Albertan.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to explore the more advanced stitches and features since my own machine is very basic. And a big hurray for handmade!

Beijos.
a canadian giveway! cool! :) I've never had a computerized machine, so i think i will be exploring functions for the first few days!
ReplyDeleteI am wayyyy up there, Nunavut, Canada!
thanks for hosting a cool giveaway!
I have a Brother CS 6000. I love it so much! I sew everyday. I sew all of my kids' clothes. I sew all of my clothes. I sew underwear and fun stuff for craft shows. I do repairs for people who didn't have the opportunity to learn how to sew. For all these reasons, I really would love to win a new machine!
ReplyDeleteI live in Winnipeg, Manitoba :)
Cool give away...I'd love to have a second machine to have running and my girls are always wanting me to let them sew. it would be much easier with 2 machines. I mostly sew children's clothes and storage type items so that is what I"d be sewing.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your give away... I live in the Netheerland .....:( :(
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this would be amazing to win!
ReplyDeleteI actually use the same brother as your original machine, which was a gift from my husband I am sure at least seven or eight years ago. It is a good little machine, but a drop has broken some pieces and the taped-togetherness gets to me some days!
I would use it to sew the rest of my daughters back to school wardrobe, and many, many other things in years to come!
b_usselman@hotmail.com
Love the giveaway! I would love a new machine because, my grandpa bought me one years ago because he new I liked to sew. And one day his broke he bored mine and he broke it!!!I'm sure it was an accident. And it cost more to fix it then to buy a new one. This would be a great prize.
ReplyDeleteI likey! I have a basic sewing machine but i would like to try out one with a few more gadgets. I would probably use this machine to make new window treatments for our new apartment and decor stuff as well for the apartment. Oh and I live in Alberta at the moment but we are moving to Bc in the August!
ReplyDeleteOkay okay Christine good giveaway girl! I only sew as necessary because my mom's old janome is my method to the maddness.....would love to try a machine from this century!
ReplyDeleteCara
Rarely do I ever get THIS excited over a giveaway, but BOY, AM I EVER EXCITED!!!! I live in Southwestern Ontario. I have a very basic machine with only straight and zigzag stitches. I have to wind bobbins, thread the needle and cut thread myself. I'd LOVE to be able to upgrade to a machine with all the fun extras!
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I would sew with it: clothing from a pattern, since I've only learned how to sew from tutorials! Thank you for the chance to win! PLEASE pick me!!!! :)
Just a quick note to let you know that a link to this post will be placed on CraftCrave today [19 Jul 12:00pm GMT]. Thanks, Maria
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh so excited about this one!! I'd love to win it, as I have a very very basic machine, but I work it hard every day. I do a lot of sewing.
ReplyDeleteFor my first project, I think I'd make a new dress that I've been working on (just sketches at this point).
Pick me!! I live in Alberta. :)

Oh I have your original sewing machine up here and i love it. i just lent it to my sister to use and she loves it to. sure could use another one so i could give her mine. Sewing is such a relaxing thing. I love to do it.
ReplyDeleteOH, I would love to win this machine!! I would make my duaghter a ton of dresses and use all the different stitches to decorate them...what a great way to spend a weekend!
ReplyDeleteOops...and I live in Ontario! :)
ReplyDeleteI live in Alberta and I'd love to win!! I would sew myself a new fall wardrobe, I've got it all planned out!
ReplyDeleteI would start working on a quilt for myself, they always seem to be for someone else! I just have a basic Kenmore and have been looking to upgrade for awhile .I am from good ole Winnipeg.
ReplyDeleteI so need a new sewing machine. My one and only machine has been with me since high school. I bought it from my home ec teacher as the school was getting new ones. It has seen me through thick and thin. Made my first dress on it, made my wedding dress on it. It has been 22 years since I bought it, and it is being held together with duct tape, I now have 4 children, and my first project would be to sew them matching shorts for my three boys, and a co-ordinating dress for my only princess!
ReplyDeletePlease pick me...
Sorry I live in Ontario.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great give away - what I wouldn't give for a new machine :) My first project would be a new quilt for our first boy due in October!
ReplyDeleteI'm crossing my fingers here!
I am currently using my mom's old sewing machine, which was originally my Nana's and it is definitely on its last leg. I've been wanting to upgrade but it just isn't it the budget right now.
ReplyDeleteI would finally finish the gumdrop pillows (that my machine keeps messing up) for my baby girl's room. After that I would start making some of the awesome baby designs I have bookmarked. I'm very new to sewing and mommyhood and I am loving both of them!
And I'm from Saskatchewan!!
Thanks for the giveaway!
I live in the US so I obviously don't qualify for the giveaway, but I just wanted to say that I love your blog and that I own a Brother Serger and I am very happy with the brand. I also wanted to ask you how you're teaching your girls to sew. My 4-year-old daughter has been asking me daily to teach her but I am not sure if she's old enough or how I should go about it.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Ana

I would absolutely love to win!! I have an older brother that I love but its starting to wear out *sniffle* and I do alot of sewing so it would be awesome to have a brand new machine! All the settings would be a dream!! to be able to do proper button holes again...Heaven!:D I'm in Alberta
ReplyDeleteI would love to enter! I live in Manitoba and the first thing I would sew is a quiet book for my toddler! I'm fairly new to sewing but quickly becoming very addicted! Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteIf I win you can e-mail me @ angelbabycrafting@rocketmail.com
This looks like an awesome machine!!! I'd love to win :D About 5 years ago I bought a Brother sewing machine & taught myself how to sew. The first thing I made was a quilt for my newborn son. I made a few other things and my poor machine has been sitting in the basement since. I would love to get back into sewing & learn more. I really need to sew a baby blanket for my daughter now. I live in Saskatchewan and my email address is nfoster80@gmail.com
ReplyDeletewow, what an amazing giveaway. I would like to start making my own clothes. Now, I do a lot of fixing clothes and making gifts for my nieces and nephews.
ReplyDeletemelindasr5 at yahoo dot com
First of all, I love you...and Brother Canada. Really, a giveaway just for Canadians. Love it!
ReplyDeleteAs for the actual sewing machine, I had to mop up a puddle of drool after seeing and what it would do.
Not sure where exactly I would start since I have decided to make many handmade gifts this year, but two things come to mind...the big project...I'm making a John Deere quilt for my father-in-law...how cool would that machine be!? And on a smaller note, I'm making coffee sleeves for everyone and again, so much easier.
I own a cheap sewing machine that barely gets the job done, but it's what I could afford at the time.
Thanks for hosting this! :)
And...I'm in Ontario.
Amanda (from: myramblings.ca - should I happen to win, you can get me here)
I would love to enter this contest!
ReplyDeleteI live in Faro, up in the Yukon Territory - you may not be familiar with Faro, because it's in the middle of nowhere ^_^
If I won, I would make quilts - bright, cheerful quilts that would keep away the winter blues when we're down to three hours of sunlight a day and I'm trapped in the house because of snow. The machine I have now was the only one I could afford, and while it tries its best, it is lagging.
Just starting out with sewing. Very nervous and anxious:)
ReplyDeleteI would make a dress for my baby girl:)
Live on Vancouver Island, BC
plsss pick me!!!! I've always wanted a sewing machine that was functional! Mine just doesn't work right.
ReplyDeletesorry not a re-entry, now that i'm on my computer instead of my blackberry i can read better.
ReplyDeleteI want to learn to sew and so does my sister, but the machine i bought just doesn't wind properly, and i bought i years ago. I would love to learn to make baby clothes since I am due to have a girl soon.
I am from Edmonton, AB
email: viv_voo@hotmail.com
I would make new curtains for my living room/and or our bedroom, as well as get back into making little girls dresses, tops with matching bloomers etc... i have a machine but its basic with very little features.
ReplyDeletethank you!

A Canadian contest?! I knew there was another reason I loved your blog! If I won, I would make anything with buttons and smocking first! Right now, I'm using an old Singer that was given to me, and it works just fine for very basic sewing , but doing buttons or smocking (or anything else I haven't yet figured out/attempted) just doesn't seem possible. I'd also make my new baby's new wardrobe, that I'm yet to start. She started kicking when I typed that. LOL
ReplyDeleteI live in Southern Alberta, in a small town of 1400 people.

ReplyDeleteOk....OMG!!!! I want this! I'm drooling on my keyboard. I am one proud Canadian living in BC on Vancouver Island and I am in desperate need of a new sewing machine. I would sew some goodies for all the lovelies in my life having new babies soon and also some new clothes for this post baby momma! My machine is over 10 years old and I don't even have a manual for it...eek! So no zippers or button holes for me, nevermind smocking! Sewing is one of my passions and it's been hard financially to save up for a new machine. Mom's always come last on the priority list right...hahaha! Anyways - thank you brother for offering up this great prize and for you Christine, for hosting it - you rock! I'm crossing my fingers.
ReplyDeleteHi from Northern Ontario
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful giveaway. I'm currently sewing with my grandmothers old machine, have been for as long as I can remember. And it has done alot of sewing but gives me troubles every now and then . Would love to try sewing on a brand new machine. I'm in the process of starting my own design business and a new machine would sure come in handy. Oh the projects I could make. I think I would start with some much needed clothes for me. Being the mommy of 2 I don't get much time to sew for myself.
Please please please let me win!!!
Thank you so much for all of your wonderful ideas. I love you blog.
Rebecca
Id love this to give to my mom. She has a old Brother sewing machine and its seen better days. I live in Alberta. melindakepper@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I would sew is another quilt! I have caught the quilting bug, and it seems as if it's here to stay. I am currently working on a 100" x 100" denim quilt...
ReplyDeleteI would also sew something for my new little niece or nephew who is due in January (and I can't wait to meet him/her!!).
I'm in Calgary, Alberta.
danielle@andersonphoto.ca
My old machine totally seized up on me and I would love to replace it with a good brand new one. The first thing I would sew is a dress I have a pattern for. I live in Manitoba.
ReplyDeletewandanamgreb(at)gmail(dot)com
I would share this sewing machine with my Mom since she shared hers with me and taught me so much! First thing I'd make would be that cute little coat you posted awhile ago. Love, love, love it :) Would come in handy during the fall on PEI. - Jean
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this new fab Borther sewing machine as the machine that I own currently is very old and only has straight stitch. The first thing i would sew is one of your awesome tutorials for my little girl to wear!

WOW! What a great Giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win a new brother machine, because I've never owned a truly NEW machine. It would be so nice to have machines that didn't break down every 5 minutes. The first thing I would sew would be something for ME, because I never sew for me and I feel like being selfish :)
I'm in New Brunswick and my email is mistybawn@gmail.com
Wow, what a fabulous giveaway! I would love a new machine, and the first thing I would sew is a superhero cape for my little man using this tutorial:

I would love to win this machine! My poor sewing machine really needs to be retired, but I keep buying it replacement parts and telling it to keep going for a few more days. The first thing I would sew on it would be back to school clothes for my kids. I live in Ontario and my email address is m_nemcsok@hotmail.com.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Incredible giveaway. I don't live in Canada.....sure hope I can still win. Didn't know Brother made sewing machines either! Another WOW! Would love to win this. Always sewing for grand kids, and my DIL could use my old machine, if I win!
ReplyDeletefigfrommo at yahoo dot com
Such a fabulous giveaway!!! I would love to win this machine. I'm living in Ontario. My first project on it would probably be my first attempt at a skirt, dress or shirt for my 2 year old. I'm super excited to try my hands at making clothes.
ReplyDeleteBRITBABY13@hotmail.com
Wow!!!! My Brother is exactly like yours. But I will be vrey happy to change it for the newest NS-80. My husband won't like it because he won't be able to talk to me....
ReplyDeleteThank you Christine, Thank you Brother Canada
Hello! Lately I've been thinking a lot of thoughts like: "Ohhh... if I had a sewing machine I'd make that!" I've had so many ideas bouncing around in my mind but no machine to experiment with!
ReplyDeleteMy first project would probably be something That we desperately need: like patching up that huge hole in my husband's favorite pants or I'd make some cute curtains for our bare windows!
I live in Edmonton, Alberta. I love it here. My sister in the states saw this giveaway and thought of me--how sweet :)
Hope Its my lucky day!
amberleary@gmail.com
Hooray!!! A Canada giveaway! I live in Beautiful BC and I would LOVE that machine to upgrade from my 27 year old Kenmore that makes bizarre sounds and shakes and rattles. I think it might turn on me like a "passive" pitbull one day. I would sew my kids (Lily 6, Holly 4 and Logan 19 months)some back to school clothes and waldorf dolls for Christmas. So exciting! Thank you so much for the opportunity. Your blog is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWarmly,
Victoria
Sorry forgot my email address in my excitment (don't count this one for the giveaway).

Thanks for the opportunity Christine! What an awesome prize! I'd love to have a new machine so that MacKenna and I can do more sewing together. :). She has a small cheap dress makers sewing machine but it doesn't work well at all an especially not for larger projects. For a starter project we'd either sew some of the scrappy clutches that you have posted or maybe even some curtains for her bedroom. :)
ReplyDeleteAs you know we're in Nova Scotia. Email is keemacmomcreations@gmail.com
Thanks!!!!
I would make quilts. and dresses for my girls!
ReplyDeleteI am in alberta!
What an awesome giveaway! I`m in BC! :) I would love to win this machine so I can replace my other brother machine because it`s one of their cheaper versions and it isn't holding up well to the amount of things I sew. If I won, I'd probably sew up a new skirt for myself as a celebration.
ReplyDeletemy email: tiffanyamanda @ gmail.com
I would make black out curtains for my daughter's room. So maybe we could get an extra hour of sleep every morning! :) Oohh, and lots of things with ruffles.

I would LOVE to win a sewing machine! I just made my first quilt ever (with a lot of help...) and did the whole thing using my friend's machine. If I was to win, I'd make another quilt. This one for my 4mo niece.
ReplyDeleteI live in Ontario.
I've been eyeing some amy butler bags, but I find my machine has a difficult time stitching through any sort of significant thickness. I would definetly love to try and make the field bag.
ReplyDeleteI live in Ontario.
I would love to win this machine because the one I currently have, doesn't stop sewing when I lift my foot from the pedal. Most of the time it will eventually stop but sometimes I have to unplug the machine to get it to stop. The first thing I would sew would probably be a raggy quilt for my SIL who is having a baby in October but I need to get it done right away so I can give it to here when I see her at the end of August. I live in Alberta.
ReplyDeleteWow! Amazing giveaway! I would love a new sewing machine! One of the first things I would try to sew would be a blanket for my daughters bed since she's moving out of her crib. Thanks for the giveaway :) I proudly live in Alberta, Canada.
ReplyDeletelydellandtrish@hotmail.com
I don't own a sewing machine right now so to get one would be great! I'm sure the first thing I'd sew is shortening the hems on my pants since I'm so short most of them are too long. LOL
ReplyDeleteWell I would just love to win because (and I hate to admit it) I'm not a very skilled sewer but I would love to have a wonderful machine like the NS-80 to learn on. I've always wanted to make my daughter some pretty toddler clothes and I bookmark every pattern and technique that I see hoping to one day make something beautiful. I've even purchased some lovely fabrics that compliment her hair. Thank you for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteasmithonline at yahoo dot ca
My machine is over 35 years old.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try some of those fonts, maybe make some pennants for a show I'm organizing.
I'm a westcoaster in Vancouver.
I would love to win, the machine I use was my grandmother's, and terribly old. I am new to sewing and would attempt a dress for my two-month-old daughter. I live in Manitoba
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this sewing machine... I've been drooling over some super cute projects / tutorials online, and the first thing I would sew with this machine would be a dress for my daughter. I'm in BC.
ReplyDeletefinnprincess79(at)hotmail(dot)com
It would be great to have this sewing machine to sew things for my own grandkids, my friends new little grandbabies, and fun projects for our home. I live in Manitoba.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I have a pretty simple Brother ES 2000 which has done me very very well the past few years. I really have no complaints and I think it's been a great value for the money hubby paid. (it was a birthday present) If I were to win this machine I would be embroidering alphabets till my heart's content! I have a daughter, a son and 4 nieces who all need quilts and fun clothes! Thanks for the opportunity :) I'm in Richmond BC.
ReplyDeleteHello Christine!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! What an incredible giveaway for all of us Canadians! Thank you and thank you Brother!!!
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to win this machine for my mom. She taught me the basics of sewing years ago, and after her ancient kenmore broke down (that was my grandmother's), she was only able to afford a cheap Euro-Pro that is incredibly temperamental. She loves to sew, and to win a new machine for her would be amazing.
Ahem, I MAY break it in making a new messenger bag for myself ;)
Much love and many hugs!
Elke
From Winterpeg, Manisnowba! (haha it was actually 25 degrees today....)
I bought my first machine about four years ago, and after looking at all the machines I ended up with a brother. I could not have been happier! It is a very simple machine but has gotten through alot of sewing work! Recently I've done some boat cushions for our sailboat. I am AMAZED with how tough this little machine is with this fabric! If I were to win this machine the first thing I would make would probably be a cute little skirt for my daughter. Things are always better when tiny! Or perhaps I would make her something for the winter, as it is approaching and we do live in Yellowknife, NT. juliejeffery(at)mac(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if my first comment went thru or not. Thanks for the giveaway. It's like you knew I needed this to complete my many projects. My old warrior finally gave up and it's not worth it to fix, so what could be better - a new Brother!

OoOoOoOohhhhh!!!!
ReplyDeleteWaving madly to get your attention from BC here :)
I bought my Machine over 20 years ago... it was one of the first fancy-shmancy electronic ones and cost the same price as a small car!!! ... but over time and through many moves the programming is all messed up.. and it is so old that no one I have taken it to (even the Official dealers) can fix it apparently it is "obsolete and you need to buy a new machine" :( But now, with kids and a mortgage I just don't have it in the budget to replace it :(
I would sooooo love to make some things for my neighbors new baby using more than a straight stitch ;)
*Crosses Fingers and Hopes I get picked*

ReplyDeleteMy reason for wanting this sewing machine is that I promised myself when I finished school I would buy myself a sewing machine and learn to sew. I finished school last spring, but haven't got around to getting a machine. Winning this would spur me on to learning to sew. As to what I would make first, I don't know - maybe a quilt? Or one of the myriad of other projects I have saved for the day I learn to sew.
ReplyDeleteWow! Well, I got my first sewing machine last year and it's a Brother but it's not as fancy as this one. I'd like to take a step up and maybe get a chance to do some things I can't on my current model.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what I'd sew first. I think it would have to be something snazzy. I want to learn to sew clothes so maybe I would try making my first item of clothing (instead of bags).

I would LOVE to win a Brother sewing machine!!!! My machine is about 32 years old and has 'difficult' days! The first thing I would make is a dress or outfit for my granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteI live in sunny Alberta!

Hello from Ontario!! I'd love to win a new sewing machine, I have 3 quilts in progress right now so I'll probably still be working on them (or at least one of them) if I win it. Thank you so much and hooray for the Canadian giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI'd love a new machine because mine has a new problem every single time I use it! I spend the majority of my sewing time fixing my machine and very little time actually sewing. If I won, the first thing I'd sew is curtains for my little girls' room. Right now they have a blanket tacked to the window... (Oh, and I live in Montreal :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool giveaway! Just this afternoon I sat drooling online looking at new and improved machines! I am a dog trainer with 4 dogs and I have a 'thing' for awesome dog collars... If I won the machine it would be kept busy keeping my pack looking stylish in beautiful ribbon-faced collars.

I am currently using my mom's old Singer sewing machine that is, like your first one was, 25 years old. I am so thankful that I have something to use but, like you 7 years ago, I am also on the lookout for a newer, more reliable machine. I am expecting my first baby in September, so the first thing I would probably make with it would be a quilt for the nursery...or baby clothes...or diapers...or nursery curtains...
ReplyDeleteI'm learning to sew while I'm on maternity leave. The sewing machine my mom handed down to me 20 years ago shuffled off this mortal coil at some point in the last 20 years that it sat mostly unused in my closet. So mom has very kindly loaned me a machine for now, but I know this is temporary and I'm not sure that I'll be able to afford a decent replacement when that time comes (did I mention I'm on maternity leave?).
ReplyDeleteSo, this is why I'd like to win the sewing machine. I'm hooked on sewing! I have only made a few things: a purse for me, a hat for my toddler, and most recently a skirt (my first article of clothing!) If I win I'll make a dress... I have some great border-print waiting to become a dress. :)
I live in BC, and my email is: janice.gerbrandt@gmail.com
Please pick me! :)
Wow! What an awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI am in dire need of a good machine. I bought a very inexpensive (under 200) machine when I started sewing a few years ago. I wanted to make sure it wasnt just a passing fancy. I now know that I love to sew. My first project would be a quilt. I have never made a quilt, so I would not use a crazy complicated pattern, but it would be a great project for a new, beautiful Brother.
hugs from Ontario,
Heidi

I would use a new machine for all the hundreds of projects I have bookmarked, including several quilts I want to make, and a bunch of Christmas gifts I've started working on. I have a soft spot for my new-to-me machine but it's old {I have no idea how old} and lacking in features. I'm in Alberta, by the way.
ReplyDeletehollynoelle at domesticdork dot com
I bought my sewing machine when I was 11... I am now 48! I think I would sew something for myself, like a new wallet.
ReplyDeleteI would use a new machine to teach my kids to sew.
ReplyDeleteI learned to sew on my Mom's brother machine. After over 35 years of use (and possible some abuse) it was retired... It was a great machine to learn on. I now own a Brother Embroidery only machine...
In sunny BC
MY GOODNESS, you have no idea how much I want this. I have been hand-sewing my clothing for the past 10 years and finally decided that I really *needed* to finally get a sewing machine...but even the cheapies aren't in my budget. So I bought an old tanker of a machine at a church sale that was valued at $15 by the sellers. It is a Finesse 827. I don't know how old this thing really is, but it looks like it might be from the 70's. I would truly love to get a new machine. One that perhaps even comes with a manual so I know how to use it.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I would sew on it would be the half-completed vintage bathingsuite that my current machine couldn't handle doing rouching on.
I live in Beautiful(during the summer) BC and I can be reached at c(dot)shalyn(at)gmail(dot)com. You can also see some of my past projects at http://arsgratiaartis-shalyn.blogspot.com/.
This giveaway is a fabulous idea! Currently I'm unemployed, so I figured I would start sewing and try making a living from that. I've got an old Naumann sewing machine from my mom, but well, it's old and it's prone to make a lot of mistakes, so it would be just awesome to have this Brother! I know that shipping costs to Hungary must be a bit more expensive...:)
ReplyDeletefor starters I'd sew a huge teddy bear for you kids :)
Wow a Canadian contest!! I would give the sewing machine to my 12 year old daughter who is just learning to sew. She is going into grade 7 and would like to sew her grade 8 graduation dress in a year and a half. Thanks for the opportunity to enter.
ReplyDeleteYah Ontario! Now that is what I call a giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWell, my sewing machine was a hand-me-down from my Mom who recieved the sewing machine from her Mom...so basically, this is a third generation sewing machine (now that is what I call quality!)... I would LOVE a sewing machine that doesn't get packed away in its own table!
If I won this machine....I would continue my love of DIY! I am working on some pants, a picnic blanket, and some back to school clothes for my son! I am always dreaming up new projects...and how inspiring is the thought of completing all of those with a new machine! I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed :)
What a great giveaway! I never considered Brother before but read your commentary and I think I will consider it on my next purchase! I think I will make a baby quilt for a friend whose expecting in the fall. I live in Ontario.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win a new machine because I have never owned my own. I always borrow my mother's machine for a few days when I have something I need to sew. If I had my own machine, I think the first thing i would sew would be something for my toddler. Maybe a pillow case dress.
ReplyDeleteI live in Ontario.
moeandde@mnsi.net
I'd love to enter as well! I'd give it to my mom since she entered me in a draw for a sewing machine this past spring and I won!! I never sewed before! She's had her machine for 20 years, and has sewn many many things for our family! She wants to sew dresses for her 4 grand daughters. We both live in ontario.

ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention that I live in Calgary AB so I had to re-post the comment :) I've never learned to sew. I remember being in tears in my Jr High Home Ec class when the teacher literally laughed at the sweatpants I made. I vowed never to sew again. I was all thumbs and I felt completely low. I felt that I wasn't a 'real woman' because I could cook but I was too stupid to learn to sew or do any needle arts for that matter. When I see all the cool stuff people have made, I desperately wish I could do that too. I see so many cool crafts that I want to make and can't because don't have a sewing machine. I think if I win this, the plan is to learn to sew from square one. How to hem pants, to mend my son's clothes, to learn how to interpret and cut out patterns and to perhaps even learn how to quilt and make Christmas ornaments and shopping bags. I read a lot of comments on here from experienced seamstresses and I desperately want to learn that skill. I don't have much luck winning contests, but perhaps if I am chosen to win this machine, I'll learn a skill that I never thought I could learn. And this time I won't end up in tears.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win this! I live in Ontario and I'm just now getting back into sewing. I want to take lessons and make myself some of the clothes I've been designing in my head!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog, by the way!
micrapol(at)hotmail(dot)com
My sewing machines (yes, machines) all sew, but they don't work 100% something wrong on each of them, I WOULD LOVE A NEW MACHINE! I sew at least 5-20 hours a week, so I guarantee it would be well loved :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm, the first thing I would sew would probably be a nice cozy quilt for these cold winters here in New Brunswick! Love that this give-a-way is for Canadian residents, most are only for the US & we get left out. :(
As always Love your blog & THANK YOU for offering this

what an awesome machine to teach my 11 year old girl to sew on!!!Just think of the uses for all those bins of scrap material!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW what an incredible giveaway - I'd love to enter! Right now I do most of my sewing on a 1953 Singer 201 straight stitch machine. It's a real workhorse and stitches beautifully, but with no zigzag or decorative stitches, my stitching options are somewhat limited. The first thing I would work on is a baby gift set + quilt for our expectant niece!
ReplyDeleteHi there, I am in Quebec, my email address is ofelian@videotron.ca
ReplyDeleteI always seem to get in on contests when they have already finished, so I was happy to find this one still open.
I would love to have that machine. I already have a Brother sewing machine that was given to me when I got married which was about 33 years ago and it has seen a lot of sewing. I am also taking courses in dressmaking and design, so I think this new Brother sewing machine would help me a great deal. Hope I get picked. Have a great day!
I am from BC, my address is stereophonic@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteMy old sewing machine is back in my hometown and sadly, I've been lacking one lately. Sewing is a great experience as I grew up with an aunt who was a seamstress and she passed on her passion.
The first thing I would sew would be a little something something for my boyfriend's little son. :)
I'd love to win! The first part of your story about having a handed-down machine that doesn't work? Well that's my story times 3!!! And none of them are a Brother machine - which is why maybe they don't work?
ReplyDeleteI need a new machine! I have so many ideas and projects that I want to do, but can't until I can afford a new machine. But with two kids and just recently being laid off, isn't going to happen soon. I am in Prince Albert Saskatchewan, and my email is anita_amyotte@hotmail.com.
Thanks so much!!!
Another New Brunswick girl here! I would love to win this, I've been wanting to get back into sewing (took some courses in highschool)for the longest time, but I can't really invest in a sewing machine right now.
ReplyDeletemademoiselleshoe@gmail.com
Hi, Tanya from Ontario here. I'd love to win this machine as a backup to my main one, and to use when teaching friends to sew (helps justify my fabric buying!). First project would be a pin cushion to attach to the machine, and then some quilt piecing. Great blog!
ReplyDeleteFellow Albertan here! I would LOVE a new sewing machine. I am currently using an ancient, second hand Janome, with minimal stitch options. My needles bread often and my thread gets caught in the bobbin casing causing my thread to nest, and snap several times per project. ARG!!! The first thing(s) I would make with my new Brother are charm pack quilts for each of my girls, and 1 for baby on the way. They would my first quilts! Then on to the several projects in my to do pile. Thanks for the awesome giveaway.

Wow.. what an awesome giveaway. I'd love to win this machine to learn how to sew, so that I can sew things for my son Hunter. I'm in Ontario. karen.marciano@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteA canadian contest is great! But I'm still worried that I'm not eligable since I live in Quebec (but I have an aunt that lives in Ontario) :). I'd love to win this as my first sewing machine, just getting into the whole scene. I do small sewing by hand so far but am wanting to get into the bigger possibilities. I think that my first piece would be some throw pillows.

ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! I'd love a new sewing machine! Mine just doesn't cut it! My first project would be to make a quilt out of old band shirts I collected throughout hs and university!

Hello from Alberta! I would love to win this give away, as I REALLY need a sewing machine! We are trying to cut expenses, and this machine would allow us to make a lot of our boys clothes and handmade gifts for Christmas. I also aspire to have sons that can cook their own food, do their own laundry and sew their own clothes if necessary. Having a machine like this would give me the chance to teach them this skill. I know teaching boys to sew might sound crazy, but to me it's like teaching a daughter to build a birdhouse, you can never have enough life skills. Anyway, thanks for allowing me to enter :) Lynn - email: thepiercefamily(at)hotmail.com (remove the at and replace with the appropriate symbol, just trying to avoid email bots ;) ). Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI am Canadian from Northwestern Ontario - yah way up in the boonies!! Lucky me indeed! I would love to win this awesome machine and I can't tell you what I would make first because I haven't a clue but I do know that it would be well used because I love fabric and I love quilting! Thanks for the chance to win an awesome giveaway!! Cheers! micheletimms@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteCool blog! I'm using an old plain jane Kenmore machine. I'd love an electronic one with funky options. I'm in ON. First thing I'd make is some skirts to use up some cute fabric from my stash.
ReplyDeleteOMG me too
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this sewing machine Mine is very old...
best regards
Françoise
Would you believe I am still using the little black Singer that I learned to sew on over 50 years ago!! I would LOVE to win a modern machine, LOL. I live in Ontario and, now that I am retired, have time to sew. First off would be Christmas presents for the grandkids.
ReplyDeleteThanks, - mrsbondi(at)aol(dot)com - hope I did that right.
When I purchased my machine (in high school), I remember thinking that the 25 year warranty on the sewing head was a long, long, long time. Well, here we are, over 30 years later and my very basic machine is still going strong. When I took it to classes in the fall everyone looked at it rather strangely...I'd love to be more up to date...please, can Brother help out? ;-) I'd start with some pillow covers and then set out to sew up my Christmas presents!
ReplyDeleteI baught my first sewing machine with my very first child tax credit that was a long time ago. I am not a good sewer but like to sew just the same things like chicken potholders and Christmas decorations also have made fitted sheets for my grandchildren and sewed many, many patches. I am from Quebec.
ReplyDeleteJust happened upon your site from Craft Gossip...great give away, but the projects on the site are really cute. I don't always follow a link, but am really glad I did. I'm a quilter, so I would have to start a new quilt project if I won the Brother machine.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great site.
What a great giveaway! I would probably sew a purse first. I sew a lot of purses! I live in Ontario :)
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! I would love to win this, and need it badly. I have been sewing almost my whole life, but always on hand-me-down machines. Currently using my mom's old Bernina - lovely, but it is 50+ years old, the light bulb doesn't work, buttonholes are painful, and it is just not getting it done for me any more. I live in Ontario and would love to make repurposed clothes for my 4 little kiddos!
ReplyDeleteOops - my email is khobbins at gmail dot com.
ReplyDeleteWow! A GREAT give away for Canadians! To top it off an amazing sewing machine! I would LOVE to win this! I am new to the sewing world, but I'm needing an upgrade! This is the exact model I've been looking into buying!!! Perfect! I live in Saskatchewan and I live 2 hours from any big cities so getting to buy clothes is a hassle and I've started making my daughters clothes to replace the excitement of clothes shopping (traded in for fun fabric!) The first thing I would make with this machine is a fancy little dress for my 1 year old daughter! My email is summer underscore 900 at hotmail dot com
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity for such a fabulous prize!! Love your blog!! (especially the name!! haha)
I would love to win this fabulous prize.
ReplyDeleteI learned to sew last year and now I have a sewing room in my house. I currently sew on a 1966 Eaton's Viking Special and she surely is due for replacement.
The first thing I would sew would be a backpack for my nephew's 1st day of Kindy.
I currently live in Alberta but I am a Northwestern Ontario girl through and through.
My e-mail is ajmceachern @ hotmail dot com
Ooohhhh..A Canadian contest --how exciting!!! I would love to win the sewing machine and make a cool dress (out of material she picks out)for my daughter who calls her self a "fashionia" LOL
ReplyDeleteI live in Beaverbank, NS
Thanks

I would love love love to win a new sewing machine. My first project would be using the alphabet fonts to make something for my granddaughters :) They have unique names (Mikea & Kazera) and you can't buy anything with their names on it. I live in Dartmouth Nova Scotia. Finally a contest just for us Canadians!!!
ReplyDeleteHey There!
ReplyDeleteI am new to sewing and would love a fancy new machine. The machine I use now is what I like to call "vintage". It's an Eaton Viking that's at least 30 years old(my grandma couldn't remember what year she bought it) and works pretty good, but it's definitely got some quirks to it. If I won, the first thing I would make would be a quilt! I've never done one before and i'd love to make one for my best friend's new baby. I live in the lovely province of Ontario.
My email address is krankykristin@hotmail.com .
I grew up in northern Ontario (James Bay frontier), and have fond memories of my mother sewing clothes for my brother and I. She passed away before my children were born, and I have wanted to make a quilt from one of her saris. A new sewing machine would put an end to my excuses for not having done so. Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeletePS - My email address is neetalogsetty@sympatico.ca
ReplyDeleteI am in Hamilton, On. I would love to win this machine because, like you, I am learning how to sew on a machine that is much older than I am. The first thing I would sew is a cool tote bag with the blue castle peeps print I just ordered :)

ReplyDeleteI live in Muskoka, Ontario. Nice of you to have a contest for Canadians. I'd be interested in trying out the embroidery features. I sewed a lot for my children when they were less than 6 yo, but now they are grown and all I usually sew are hems (we're all short-legged), crotches and buttons. I'd like to do more sewing for my house and make up some aprons this summer too.

I live on the southern shore of nova scotia, and although it is BEAUTIFUL there is very little to keep one sane!! lol A BROTHER machine would keep this mom very busy, my first project would have to be a quilt made of my daughters baby clothes, she turns ONE on Sat!!! Happy Bday baby girl!
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great contest!

Hello, I live in Manitoba and I would LOVE to win this fabulous machine. The first thing I would make is a sun dress I saw at craftstylish website. Thanks!
ReplyDeletefor_kanne@hotmail.com
Yay a Canadian contest! I live in BC, and I would sew a skirt, and probably a new tablecloth right away with a new Brother sewing machine. My current machine is a very basic, but sturdy Brother, with only a zigzag and straight stitch option, so I would love to win something with some more bells and whistles!
ReplyDeleteI love Brother sewing machines! I received a very basic Brother sewing machine for a wedding gift, and it does really well for me! I would love to try out a computerized machine though. The first thing I would make is some new pajamas for my 1 year old daughter. I live in northern Alberta :) My email is dj_larochelle@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteBTW, I have the Brother 3034D Serger (from Costco.ca for $450) and I love it!
Chrocheting, knitting and sewing oh my! I love making things for my family and friends. If I were to win, I would first sew a set of blankets for my girl friend's set of 6 month old twins.
ReplyDeletemmerckle@yahoo.com
I was so excited to see a contest for Canadians! I am a fairly new reader of yours and would love to know how far north you really are! We have spent time in Fort St John BC (and after a wrong turn trying to go home, 2 hours up the Alaska Highway from there...) and dh and ds have travelled to Yellowknife by Greyhound--the stories! Also, relatives in northern Alberta, etc.
ReplyDeleteI am in BC. I would love to win a new machine to inspire my nearly 15 year old to use her creative talents. She used to love to design gowns and outfits, and now volunteers at a local charity, where she could get lots of interesting items to refashion!
I might have to break it in first by mending some blue jeans from my boys, or sewing a scrappy skirt for my 21 mo baby girl. Been collecting so many great ideas!
Email legomum @ shaw . ca (remove spaces)
I am a proud Canadian sewer! Relatively new to sewing but none the less come from a family of sewers. If only my Nana could see me at the sewing machine. She taught me how to do flower designs as a kid and I don't think she would have ever imagined me sewing now! I'm currently stealing my Mother's Kenmore sewing machine (which is probably 10 years old) for all my projects and would love to have my own machine to create on! Not to mention give her machine back!
ReplyDeleteI live in Manitoba and I think my first project with this new Brother sewing machine would be gifts for my neice/nephew that is on the way! None of our family lives in Ottawa where they are so I think homemade gifts are a way to keep family close in heart.
Thanks for posting a contest for Canadians, we hardly get any!!
nicolediehl@shaw.ca
A giveaway just for Canadians? Oh my! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE this sewing machine for so many reasons (by the by, I totally refrained from punning "sew" there - brownie points?) I sew as much as I have time for, from starting my projects from scratch to "editing" clothing I buy at thrift stores. It's my main way of keeping myself dressed in a way that actually makes me feel good about myself, especially given my little bitty budget (I work in the arts - enough said.)
ReplyDeleteThe first project I would do would probably be a new "date" dress, because I am sadly lacking in those. Something to make me feel all gussied up and pretty-like.

WOW... finally a great day to be Canadian in the sewing world!!!! I am so desperate for a new sewing machine... my singer is on its last stages of life. I follow your blog and always go to it first when looking for inspiration to sew for my daughter or my nephew (love love love the new knit fabric bum leggings!!!!)... the first thing I would sew up on my (already claiming ownership, LOL) would be some cloth training pants for my nephew that lives overseas...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! Claudia from BC

An opportunity to get a new machine? I'm a student currently in possession of an antique singer machine. I'm terrified of hurting it as it is very finicky, and can't afford a machine of my own! I would definitely start mending and designing dresses/pillows/curtains, all the fun stuff I can't afford to splurge on with my budget!

I am currently using my Great Grandmothers Sewing Machine, an antique Husqvarna. It is in need of a tuneup and it is so old I'm not even sure I will be able to get it serviced locally. I would love to have a sewing machine with some more features.

So happy to see a contest just for Canadians! :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this machine. I am a crafty person, but I have only ever tried hand-sewing some small projects. I have seen so many inspiring projects lately, but I lack the machine to do it on. My first project would either be some cute pillows for our new apartment, or table runners for our upcoming wedding.
I live in Ontario and my email address is krista.nidd@hotmail.com. My fingers are double crossed!
I would love to win a new machine! I'm using my Grandma's old machine, and it keeps jamming all the time. As a first project, I would probably make a couple pillows for my new classroom(kidergarten), and a skirt for my niece.
ReplyDeleteI live in Ontario and my email address is emmalee3@gmail.com. Thanks!
Oh my goodness! What a wonderful giveaway! I would love to win a fancy new machine! I am currently using a very basic Singer, and would love to upgrade to something like this! ReplyDeleteI have been saving for a new machine, the one I have is very old and hard to work with. There are other stitches that the machine should be able but the machine will only do one. Luckily its the straight stitch.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I would sew is my sons blanket. Right now he carries around a piece of fabric because my machine is literally incapable of sewing it. Its the minky fabric and my machine can't sew it.
betsywetsy99@hotmail.com

ReplyDeleteI have been inspired by a very dear friend of mine to start sewing. Her and I dabbled in it during highschool, where she taught me to make fun little shirts and skirts for summer. Since then, Mel has moved on to make many creative projects and has started selling her sewing creations to friends and family alike. I can thank her for linking me to this blog too!

THIS is the machine I am trying to buy... please help me win it instead!

ReplyDeleteHello.
ReplyDeleteI am just getting into sewing. Years ago as a kid my parents sewing machine broke down and they never had the money to fix it. If I want to sew I have to go to a friends house to be able to do so. At her place I made my last halloween costume, and am currently making a quilt as my brothers wedding gift. The first thing I would sew would either be clothes or another quilt (one for me as I don't have one!) depending on which material is cheaper.
I live in British Columbia.
My email is dont_know68@msn.com
OH. My. Goodness! how cool is that of Brother!!
ReplyDelete1st of all, I would sit in front of it and stroke it and then be too scared to actually sew something!. I'd have to read all the possibilities and test them out.
Then I would make something that I could sew a name on. Like a kid's chef hat and apron. Or some pocket protectors for my husband. ha.
Seriously though, I would be over the moon to have so many options. Since I've started sewing more things, I'm wishing my machine had more options. This one looks amazing!
thanks so much for sharing!
I'm currently living in Ontario, but would like to call Nova Scotia home.
Hi! I would love to win this sewing machine because I am addicted to creating things!!! I live in Ontario just outside Toronto and would make a new braided headband for myself if I won!
ReplyDeleteMy e-mail address is hipknitized@gmail.com thans so much for your offer! Love it! :)
Hello, Christine!
ReplyDeleteSince our daughter has started to sew for their little guy (and his room), I've been hauling my maching back and forth (how come it's always up to the Mom to do the delivering..:-)...from our home to theirs and I'm just about done! LOL!!
I know she'll put it to good use (hm...perhaps she can take mine, and MOM will keep this shiny new one! hah!)...we don't have the means to buy one for her now, so this would be a wonderful surprise.
Thank you for offering this contest, and for your lovely site!
Sincerely
Lindi Moro

Wow, what a giveaway! And to Canadians even more fabulous! Why would I love a brand spankin' new brother? maybe because all of the sewing I do (And I do a lot of it) is done on my mom's 1972 Kenmore (fancy zig zag stitches lol)and my 1954 Kenmore (Straight stitch only) I would just die to sew with some of those on board pre-programmed stitches. And shirring, I have been itching to shir but my machine does NOT enjoy elasticized thread whatsoever. So, lets see I think the first thing I would sew would be a small wardrobe of shirred dresses and peasant tops for my daughter and myself and of course my mom who so generously lets me use her machine!
ReplyDeleteThanks!

I'm a university student and would absolutely *love* to win this machine in time for September, when I begin a theatre costuming course. But since it's not quite fall semester yet, I think I would first sew one of the tops in the BurdaStyle July 2010 that I just picked up!
ReplyDeleteI'm originally from Ontario, now living in Montreal. Go Sens Go!

Hello and thanks for hosting such great give away. Would super love a new machine around here that can do a little more than my 8 stitch Kenmore. Winnipeg is cold in the winter. Think I would sew up my daughter's quilt first thing as I have been meaning to since she was a baby and now she is 2.5! Maybe as a birthday present!

My second hand-me-down sewing machine from my grandma just broke about a month ago. Life is hard without a sewing machine! I would love a new machine, especially one with lots of fun features. The first things I would sew would be little girl skirts and a baby carrier! I've been living in Ontario for the past 3 years but in a week I move back to Alberta, home sweet home.
ReplyDeleteI am sewing on a 20 year old Kenmore and a 25 year old White serger. They still work but I am itching to try a newer, fancier machine. The first thing I would sew would be to finish the cloth diapers I started for my now 18 year old grandson, so maybe grandchild number four could wear them.

Like your first sewing machine, I too was given a sewing machine (a Singer) that was a number of years old and it did and still does not work 100%-something seems to be wrong with the thread tension that cannot be corrected. I would LOVE a new sewing machine and one of my first projects would be a tote bag. I'm from Ontario.

I would love to win! I am currently looking to buy a sewing machine - I dont have one yet! So this would be great! My first project is going to be a rag quilt for my little ones room. Thanks for the great ideas on your blog.

PS - I live in Alberta :)
Please please! I live in the Yukon and have recently become absolutely infatuated with sewing. It all started a year ago when the twins came into this world... so with winter coming (and they are oh so long) a new machine would have me stitching up all sorts of things for the babes. However, the first thing I would sew would be a quilt for my friends baby due at the end of August!

Ohhhhhh so exciting...a contest in Canada! I am currently a mother of 2 (almost a mother of 3 in 8 weeks). I have discovered my new talent....SEWING! I have many projects that I would love to complete, but have an ancient sewing machine that I have to fidget with to work (passed down from family). I am very appreciate of someone giving me a sewing machine...dont get me wrong! The first thing I would make if I were to win this contest is a blanket for my daughter! Thanks...my e-mail address is tcliche@rogers.com
