What Does This Fabric Want To Be?

Do you guys remember these alligator clips? If you are a new friend to the blog click on the link and you can read all about them and find out where I found this fabulous ribbon.

I love that Red Riding Hood ribbon! I bought such a tiny amount of this ribbon and when I have some extra fun money I need to buy more!

After I bought that ribbon I had to buy this fabric...
It has been sitting on my fabric shelf for a couple of months. Just sitting, which is such a shame because it is SO cute! Don't you agree? One of my most favorites on my shelf right now. Problem is, I can't decide what it wants to be. I only bought a yard. It is a Euro fabric so it was a little spendy. I thought I might make a dress for my 4yr old, but it is a little thinner than I had thought it would be. As you can see by my photo the white is a bit see through.
I had also bought the Michael Miller dots to be a coordinate, but now I'm wondering if it looks too Minnie Mouse?
Right now I'm leaning towards a short sleeve shirred peasant top and leaving out the dots all together. I think it would look cute with this skirt.

At the same time I feel like it is destined to be something more than a simple peasant top. :)

What do you think? I need some inspiration!

I purchased this fabric at Euro Girls Boutique if you want to get some of your own. I purchased this fabric, and Euro Girls Boutique has no idea who I am or that I am making this post.

  2. I can't help think a lightweight jacket (I guess would need to be lined) with a hood - a riding hood out of red riding hood fabric - the red and white spots would be just the right touch for the theme...Am I being too cheesy?

  3. I think the dots are cute with it! It could just be a touch of it like a yoke, a band across the bottom, or a couple of pockets. I think it would look cute with that denim skirt. I bought some fabric to make that skirt so it would be fun to see a top to go with it. I'm sure that whatever you make it will be great!

  4. I think the fabric would look very nice as a peasant top. I also think it would make a very cute backpack or similar style child's bag! The red dots didn't make me think of Minnie Mouse, but did make me think of the gnome fabric I've been seeing around lately.

Whatever you make with it, I'm sure it will be lovely!

  10. ooh... maybe something like this Matlida Jane top... http://www.matildajaneclothing.com/viewproduct.php?ID=1423
and you could use the polka-dot for the ruffle-trim on the sleeves

Super cute fabric! Can't wait to see what you create with it! :)

I love Little Red Ridinghood too :)
I imagined the Red Ridinghood ribbon and fabric become a cute bag or a diary book cover. Perfect for the young at hearts ;)

  12. That fabric can not be anything but a dress! Simple white lining?

  13. I think a dress or top too. definitely a simple white lining and the polka dot goes perfectly. so very cute, can't wait to see what you do. It's hard to cut into it, I know :)

  14. Oh, it MUST be a dress with a little bit of ruffle sleeve. I like the polka dots but maybe a pindot would go better? I agree with the others that a simple white lining would do wonders.

  19. I think a peasant top would look great. For another suggestion, how about some cute long shorts with red polka dot pockets on the back and as a pocket trim detail on the front?
