I'm feeling a little under the weather today. The kids have a day off school (didn't it just start), and the hubby is golfing this afternoon (calling for our first snow flurries this coming week). We are all cozied up on the couch watching The Swiss Family Robinson. I don't have the energy to do anything today, but I thought I'd share with you something I completed recently. :)
Some of you may remember this post. I had purchased some super cute Little Red Riding Hood fabric and wasn't sure what to make with it. I originally wanted to make something special with it because I loved the fabric so much. In the end simple it was, and it ended up as a little peasant dress. This is what I didn't want it to be, so funny this is how it ended up!
I had made a little dolly skirt with the fabric when I first got it, and shouldn't have. I only had a yard to begin with!
With a little less than a yard I was able to squeeze out a short sleeved little peasant dress for my 5yr old. I had the teeniest bit of scraps when I was done, I used every last bit!
Then I added two little pockets like this with little apple buttons on the top (I seem to have misplaced the buttons). I think the pockets made it a little busy so I took them off. What do you think?
These are the leggings she insists on wearing with it so the pockets I thought were a little much.
Have you sewn anything this week? Used any much loved or hard to find fabric? I'd love to hear about your projects. If you have blogs leave me the links so I can check them out! :)
Have a great weekend everybody! Hopefully I'll pop in tomorrow with some Etsy finds.
Have you picked out your fabrics for the sew-a-long next week?

I haven't had much time to sew these days, but I did manage to make a peasant top the other day. It's from fabric I love so much it hurts!

Much to adorable....and can you share which pattern you used. I would LOVE to sew one for my sweet new Granddaughter. XXX
ReplyDeleteThese are some pj's I made a couple of weeks ago. I made a tutu for my granddaughter to match the one on her Rainbow Doll. My daughter is going to take pics of her and the doll when we find a red shirt for Shelby. I'm also working on a little skirt by Sara Norris. I'll post it when I'm done.

What a beauty... I love it..
ReplyDeleteI actually think it's the perfect dress for Little Red Riding Hood fabric. :) Did you use a pattern for the dress or just shir a rectangle and add sleeves? Super cute! I actually loove the pockets but you're right, it's too much with the leggings (I have that same fabric...chez ami right?).
ReplyDeletei love the shirt! i think the pockets are super cute!!
ReplyDeleteAww, that dress is adorable. I think you did the right think by taking the pockets off. It's perfect like it is now. Cute!
ReplyDeleteChristine,
ReplyDeleteI love this dress. Simple is nice so you can appreciate the fabric. Too cute!
I also love this idea of sharing what we have made. I can't wait to check out everyone's blog. I made birthday outfits for the girls last week. As you know, I also made your art tote. I posted here about both http://twincess.blogspot.com/2010/09/happy-birthday-princesses.html
I made a knot dress for friend and another one for my etsy shop. It's here on my blog. www.ellzabelle.com. I'm loving making these! Ellen
ReplyDeleteYou have inspired this grandma to gather up beautiful fabrics and sew for her little ones. Every day I find your blog so energizing and delightful. Thank you for introducing me to some of the terrific new pattern companies out there. I'll be making Ice Cream Dresses for two precious little girls next spring, thanks to the ideas shared here.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the lovely posts and projects. I check in here every day when I have coffee and find so many good things to make and do thanks to you creativity and generous sharing.
You can find this pattern at youcanmakethis.com. There is an advertisement to the right on my sidebar. It is the Carla C portrait peasant Top. The shirring is not part of the pattern, but easy to add.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much everyone for sharing your projects and all of the kind comments. They make my day!!
Very cute and the leggings look great with it.
ReplyDeleteDid you say snow! Where are you? No snow here in Missouri until December.
Super cute. Love your blog. Did you use a pattern for the top??
