Today I was going to post a Seuss upcycle. A dress my kindy girl wore to school today to honor the man that wrote all of the wonderful books my kids love to read. What would we do without Red Fish Blue Fish, or Green Eggs and Ham?
I learned to read with these books, and my girls have too. Which Dr. Seuss is your favorite? We all have a favorite, don't we?
Anyway, I was going to show you the dress she wore to school today, except it hasn't been sewn yet.
In the past day and a half we have had a strange itchy rash (which seems to have gone away thank goodness), a broken van (which seems to be fixed thank goodness), and a fever (which unfortunately has gotten a bit worse).
Running around this afternoon...picking the kids up from school, Daddy up from work, this little guy just sat quietly in his seat (very unusual for him). Every few mins he would say "Mama, can we go home and will you sweep wif me?".
I'm not sure I've ever heard him say he wants to sleep. Isn't it just so sad when the little ones aren't feeling well? We have had a rough winter for bugs in our house. Hopefully this means we've had our share and next winter will be better!
So this evening I've been snuggled up with Little Dude and Tigery (not a typo- that's his name) working on blanket #1 and watching Wonder Pets (yes that's more yarn hanging off the dresser). Usually he takes Hot Wheels cars, or his toy camera, or plastic dinosaurs (pretty much any hard toy he has been playing with that day) to bed. He never takes stuffies no matter how I try to convince him. The fact that he wants to cuddle Tigery makes me sad because I know he really feels lousy. Although, I will be happy not to roll over on a metal car at 1am (yes, he is still sleeping with us a lot of the time).
Dr. Seuss, happy birthday. Tonight we read Wacky Wednesday (this story never gets old with my kids and always takes ten million hours to get through) and The Cat in The Hat to celebrate.
The dress will get done, just not today.

Awww...my little girl is sick too. It's the worst feeling to know that they are feeling lousy. Hope he feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that little face. I hope he feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteOf course our favorite Dr. Suess characters are Thing 1 and Thing 2. We have two sets of those around here! :)
Love the colors on that blanket. Hope that little guy is better soon!
ReplyDeleteAww, that's just the saddest little face! Hope he's feeling better in the morning.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the hard toys in bed. My son will sleep with the oddest things...at the moment, his favourite is a clean avocado pit that he imagines to be lots of other things.
Oh My! I hope he feels better soon! At 10 and 12 mine still sleep with us sometimes too. The older they get the sweeter those moments are. We love Dr. Suess too, I think my fav is Bartholomew and the Oobleck (sp?) They are asleep and I can't go check!
ReplyDeleteI hope that it is not scarlet fever. My oldest when ever she got with in 10 feet of someone with strep it would turn to scarlet fever. If the rash is on his tummy and looks like tiny pin dots you better brave the -20 and see the doc. Good luck that sad face makes me want to cry and not only for being sick, but seriously those eyelashes, are you kidding me.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... the rash was on a different kid. No rash on this little one. Now you have me scared though...off to google!
ReplyDeleteSorry your little guy is not feeling well. We are in a small northern town and the whole town has has this bad cold this month. Starts with a 3 day mystery fever and then cold symptoms. My household is on the mend at least. Poor little guy!! Hope he feels better soon.
ReplyDeletePoor little man! I hope he feels better soon--he sure looks miserable!
ReplyDeleteI have a 3-year-old super-fond of sleeping with her parents, too. No worries--I figure she won't want to forever and I know all too soon we won't be cool enough to hang out with!
Looking forward to seeing the dress
I can't tell you how much you've made my day by publicly and without apology admitting that your child sleeps -gasp- in your bed! I thought I was the only one.
ReplyDeleteAnd how sweet that he asks you to be with him when he's not feeling well. Hope he's batter soon!
Hope he feels better soon! I hate when the kiddos are sick. :(
ReplyDeleteAwww, that face breaks my heart. My littles are under the weather as well... but it's not very bad, AND it's the worst we've had all winter. I'm mostly just up to my elbows in snot.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Dr Seuss, I was in the quilt shop last night and there was a whole line of his fabric from the various books.
ReplyDeleteThe visit was useful. Content was really very informative. From http://www.ahmedabadonnet.com
ReplyDeleteIt really is the worst when the little ones feel bad. I hope he is feeling better very soon! What a sweet little boy you have!
ReplyDeleteawww, my little guy looked exactly the same earlier this week and all he wanted was to sleep laying on me and watch wonder pets too. Then he slept for 16 hours straight after the fever spiked the higest. He woke up his old self and that was it. Hope he feels better soon.
